The San Tan Charter Roadrunners open the home schedule Friday night at 7:00 PM against the Seton Catholic Prep Sentinels, with both teams coming off very different Week 1 nights. San Tan Charter shut out Apache Junction 65–0 on the road. Seton Catholic lost 30–14 at home to Round Valley and arrives 0–1.
It is the second straight year the two schools have opened against each other, and the Sentinels hold the recent edge — a 32–26 win in Chandler on August 29, 2025 that was one of only two Roadrunner losses in a 9–3 season that ended in the 2A state quarterfinals.
The opener was over quickly. San Tan Charter scored 65 on 20 offensive snaps: 191 rushing yards on 14 carries with six rushing touchdowns, Porter Smith 101 yards and three scores on five touches, Luke Cardis 4-of-6 for 72 yards and two more. The defense recorded six sacks, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Seton Catholic plays up a class in 3A Metro Mountain under head coach Matt Hanshaw and brings the heaviest front the Roadrunners will see before section play, including 315-pound Edwin Haddock and 280-pound Mateo Carbajal.
